Vivek Kohar studied Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, India . Then he worked in Structured Finance as financial analyst before joining Direct PhD program in Physics at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali, India where he worked on Logical Stochastic Resonance and spatiotemporal dynamics on time varying networks under supervision of Prof. Sudeshna Sinha . After obtaining doctoral degree, he joined Prof. W. L. Ditto's Applied Chaos Lab at University of Hawaii at Manoa as a Post Doctoral Fellow and moved to North Carolina State University with the lab.
At Applied Chaos Lab Kohar's research focuses on nonlinear time series analysis to understand the complex dynamics of variable stars and biological systems like heart and neurons. He also studies noise induced phenomenon, noise control and complex networks. He is interested in electronic circuit modeling of nonlinear phenomenon.
