  • NCSU Physics Tutoring:
    The Society of Physics Students is partnering with the department to begin a formal tutoring program. Tutoring will be offered for PY 201 and PY 203 for the Fall semester of 2012, and will be expanded to PY 202 in the Spring. If you are interested in being a tutor in this program, please fill out this application and return to Dr. Blondin in the Main Physics Office before Friday, August 31st, 2012. If you have any questions, please contact Mary Burkey (mtburkey@ncsu.edu).

    The program will consist of drop in sessions in the Riddick Hearth from 3 to 5 Tuesday through Thursday. Wages are $10 an hour. Also, if you are willing, the students will have access to your contact information to schedule other times if need be.

  • Tutorspree Tutoring:
    Tutorspree is offering Society of Physics Students members an easy way to earn extra income during the school year and summer. Tutorspree is a tech start-up that connects tutors and students for in-person tutoring. Our top tutors earn thousands of dollars a month on a part time basis. Fill out a profile, set your tutoring subjects, and have clients contact you.

  • Outreach at Weatherstone Elementary STEM Day - November 30, 2012
    SPS has been asked by faculty at Weatherstone Elementary to help out at their STEM Friday on November 30. It would be at 2:30 and we would be working with first graders doing demonstrations on motion and balance. Email David Jones at adjones8@ncsu.edu to discuss interest in this event.
  • SPS Bad Physics Movie - November 30, 2012
    We will be having a bad physics movie night on November 30 at 8:00 pm. There will probably be popcorn. Come out and relax on the last day of class before begining to cram for your finals. Email Benjamin Beaumont at bcbeaumo@ncsu.edu to give him your ideas for what bad movie to watch.
  • SPS Game Night with SUM Club - November 19, 2012
    SUM club and SPS are having a joint game night on Monday, November 19. It will start at 6:00 and go until 9:00 or later. Feel free to show up anytime in between and bring games if you want. There will be food at this event so show up so we can beat SUM club in any competitive games!
  • SPS Lunch with a Professor - November 14, 2012
    We will be having a lunch with a professor with Dr. Haase on Wednesday November 14, 2012. We will meet outside of the SPS room to walk to hillsborough street to get some lunch.
  • SPS Meeting - November 5, 2012
    This meeting is about applying to graduate school. We will discuss everything that you need in order to apply to graduate school, including the GRE and all the everything else.
  • SPS Meeting - October 29, 2012
    This meeting will be focused on REU's and undergraduate research. Dr. Reynolds will be here to talk about how to apply and give you all of the important details on REU's
  • SPS Meeting - October 22, 2012
    This SPS meeting, in RD 450, will address the issue of what classes to take as your registration date approaches. Upperclassmen will give students an idea of what are some good classes to take to get rid of some of those requirements that you have to take. There will be pizza.
  • SPS Game Night - October 26, 2012
    After having such a successful game night last year, we have decided to have another game night. Tyler Temple, tntemple@ncsu.edu, has taken on the task of organizing the event. It will be in Riddick on Friday the 26 starting around 7:00pm. Come on out and play a variety of board, card, and video games with your fellow physics students.
