Biography

Areas of Interest

Dr. Ji's research focuses on the novel and accurate theoretical predictions of the hadron structures and spectra of ordinary, strange, charm and beauty mesons and baryons including their exotic molecular aspects and the role of glueball components. In order to construct a realistic hadron model consistent with the precision experimental data envisioned at JLAB, formerly known as CEBAF, the program emphasizes relativity by taking advantage of the lightcone and the fundamental symmetries of C, P, T, crossing, duality, and unitarity. The primary interest of this program is to investigate the nonperturbative aspects of QCD field theory represented by the vacuum condensation, relate them to the many-body physics based on the BCS theory of superconductors, and develop an effective field theory to describe the shell and liquid structures of hadrons and nuclei. The perturbative QCD calculations involve algebraic manipulation, software development and large-scale numerical computations using local and national level supercomputers. Dr. Ji is currently a member of International Light Cone Advisory Committee (ILCAC) and has been a theory consultant for JLAB(CEBAF) and the Seoul National University. His research with a couple of graduate students attracted SURA/CEBAF fellowships in recent years.
