Please send abstracts to John L. Hubisz, Secretary-Treasurer, at hubisz@unity.ncsu.edu in strict ascii format or in Word 97. Otherwise mail to: Physics Department, Box 8202, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC 27695-8202. Include Title, Presenter(s), Affiliation, Address, Phone & FAX numbers, and e-mail address with a short abstract. Chuck Bennett is the program chairman and can be reached at bennett@unca.edu. DEADLINE: September 24th.

Papers are typically 15 minutes. List any special equipment that you may need. Overhead projectors will be provided.

Cliff Swartz, editor of "The Physics Teacher," will speak on "Models and Reality" on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. and on "Quantitative Physics" on Saturday morning.

Accommodations

There are 48 rooms reserved. This is the FALL LEAF SEASON! The rooms are being held with a credit card. You MUST send money with your Pre-Registration to guarantee a reservation.

There are 30 rooms at the Scottish Inn. The total price is $95.92 for each night. First come, first served. ACT NOW!

There are 10 rooms at the Red Carpet Inn. The total price is $87.20 for each night. These will be released after September 17th! You must state that you are attending the Physics Teachers' Meeting to get that price.

There are 8 rooms at the Hampton Inn. The total price is $129.71 for each night. Ask for Mr. Baker and state that you are attending the Physics Teachers' Meeting to get that price. These rooms will be released after October 1st.

After rooms are released you can expect an increase of $10-$30 per night.

We are looking for nominations for the 4-Year College/University member-at-large, Vice-President, and Secretary-Treasurer to be elected at the Spring 2000 meeting at Davidson College, March 17-18, 2000. (Arnold Arons is confirmed as a guest speaker!)
