Graduate Fellowships and Supplements of Excellence
The Department of Physics at NC State seeks applications and nominations of excellent students for Fellowships and Supplements of Excellence.
About 10-15 nine months awards will be made ranging from $6000 to $22,000 (total more than $180,000). This support is initially for one academic year,
with possible renewal in some cases. Fellowships and Supplements will result in reduced or eliminated teaching assistantship loads, allowing
recipients to focus on required courses and comprehensive exams. The awards will thus place students on an accelerated track
towards degree completion.
Students interested in applying for the various Fellowships and Supplements of Excellence should submit:
- Apply to the Physics Graduate program using the
NC State Apply Yourself system.
- Address why the applicant has chosen to apply at NC State and why the applicant is deserving of a Fellowship or
Supplement of Excellence in the personal statement.
- Ask the reference writers to comment on the suitability of the applicant to be offered a Fellowship or Supplement
If you wish to nominate someone for a Fellowship or Supplement please send the name and contact information of the nominee to
The Graduate Program. The Director of Graduate Program will then contact the
nominee and encourage an application.
Deadline for applications and nominations is January 25, 2008.
All applicants will be considered for the full range of Fellowships and Supplements and do not have to apply for a specific category. The selection
committee will determine which support will be offered to which applicant.
