· If you receive less than a 50% in lab you will receive an F in the lecture class, regardless of your other grades in lecture.
· The labs will consist of 3 parts plus participation during the lab. The prelab MUST be completed before lab and turned in before you perform the lab.
· During the lab you will complete data sheets at the end of the lab procedure. These data sheets will be initialed before you leave the lab room.
·
The final part of the lab is the postlab. You
are required to turn in a your data sheets with your postlab within 1
week of your lab start time. These materials should be turned in to
your TA's box on the first floor of Fox.
What should be
turned in after completing the lab?
Your TA will give you points for your participation in
the lab as follows:
The labs will be
worth 100 points:
Late lab reports: Late labs will lose 10 points if turned
in during the first 7 days late, labs later than 7 days will get a zero.
Your grades will be kept on Wolfware.
Click on your lab course then section number. Your TA will post your grades
here when your Lab materials are handed back. It is YOUR responsibility to
email your TA if you have any problems, or your grades were recorded
incorrectly.
Students may work together during lab and share data among group members while in lab, but each student's PreLab and PostLab MUST be written individually. Students may NOT work together in writing Pre or Post Labs. PreLabs or PostLabs that are identical OR substantially the same will receive a grade of zero, and the lab may not be made up. Any suspected plagiarism will be reported to the university and is subject to the university's plagiarism procedures.
You MUST arrive on time, if you are
more than 10 minutes late for your scheduled lab, you will be asked to leave
and will not be able to make up the lab.
If you miss a lab please consult the "Making up a Lab" section of
this page.
If you miss a lab please fill out the
making-up a lab form[PDF]. Notice that you need to get
your lecture professor to sign the form. Without a form you will not be
admitted to another lab. Please note that you can only make up a lab if you
missed because of a family emergency, a university sponsored event or an
illness (with a doctors note) (NOTE: For FALL 2009 and SPRING 2010 the requirement to provide a
doctor’s note is waived to reduce the flow of students to Student
Health due to possible flu outbreaks). If you missed for another reason you can
not make up a lab.
Once you have the form signed you need to attend another scheduled section of
the lab and turn in your make up form to the TA. However, if you wish to attend
a section that already is full (24 students registered) than the students
registered for that section have priority and you will be asked to leave if the
lab is full. 24 students total can not be exceeded for someone to make up a
lab.
If you miss a lab and are unable to make it up later in the week you MUST
contact your TA immediately. If your missed lab is due to acceptable excused
absence, YOU are responsible for contacting and scheduling a time with your TA
to make up the lab within one week of the missed lab.
